Our History
The National Organization of Initiative and Action (NOIA) was founded in November 2018 by a dynamic group of young Afghan women and men from diverse backgrounds, united by a shared passion for justice, democracy, and equality. Recognizing the urgent need for bold, innovative solutions in a nation grappling with prolonged conflict, inequality, and widespread human rights abuses, these visionary leaders established NOIA to be a force for change. From the beginning, NOIA’s mission has been to create, develop, manage, and monitor transformative initiatives that protect the most vulnerable populations while fostering long-term resilience and sustainable progress.
Driven by principles of transparency, inclusivity, and participatory leadership, NOIA quickly became a home for human rights defenders operating in some of Afghanistan’s most critical and dangerous contexts. With governance rooted in openness and collaboration, the organization attracted talented professionals committed to advancing gender equality, protecting human dignity, and strengthening democratic values. NOIA’s unique combination of local focus and global engagement allows it to integrate international expertise into its Afghanistan-centered mission, offering innovative solutions tailored to the complexities of fragile environments.
At its heart, NOIA embodies a beacon of hope and action for women, children, and marginalized groups facing systemic violence and discrimination. The organization has spearheaded initiatives promoting women’s leadership, access to education, and crisis management, ensuring that Afghan women and men alike have a platform to shape their future. NOIA’s responsive and flexible programming empowers communities to confront human rights violations, environmental degradation, and economic instability with dignity and determination.

A future where Afghan communities flourish with dignity, equality, and security — where women and youth lead transformative change in development, education, health, human rights, environmental protection, sports, and social cohesion. We envision a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable society built on hope, opportunity, and lasting peace for all.
Mission
To empower Afghan communities by advancing women’s leadership, fostering rural development, promoting education, health, and sports, strengthening social cohesion, providing psychological support to victims of violence, delivering humanitarian aid, and implementing transformative projects that protect human rights, preserve the environment, safeguard wildlife, and promote cultural diversity for a sustainable future.
