NOIA Volunteers in Action
In line with our mission to foster sustainable communities and responsible citizenship, NOIA organized a street and park clean-up campaign in Kabul Province. Bringing together volunteers of all ages, our teams collected litter, raised environmental awareness, and promoted public pride in maintaining shared spaces. This campaign reflects NOIA’s ongoing commitment to grassroots action and local empowerment.
We thank the dedicated volunteers who made this possible and continue to support cleaner, healthier.
Success Story 1: Mohammad Hashim, Resident of PD15, Kabul
"Before NOIA's awareness campaign reached our district, throwing garbage on the streets and parks had become a normal part of daily life. No one stopped to think about the damage we were causing to our own environment, our children’s health, and the beauty of our neighborhoods. But when NOIA came to PD15, they opened our eyes. Through their awareness sessions and cleanup drives, we finally understood that we have the power to change this reality."
"Now, my family and I have made a strong decision — we no longer throw trash on the streets or parks. We collect all our waste and carry it to the garbage bins. This small change has brought big results: our street is cleaner, our children play safely, and we feel proud of our neighborhood again. We are happy that this message reached us and touched our hearts."
"But we believe this is just the beginning. I am committed to sharing this message with my relatives, friends, and neighbors so they can also become part of this positive change. We sincerely appreciate NOIA’s efforts, and we strongly encourage donors and partners to continue supporting this campaign so it can expand to other districts of Kabul and even beyond to other provinces. The impact is real, and we are living proof of it."
— Mohammad Hashim, PD15, Kabul
Success Story 2: Abdul Wali, Shopkeeper, PD10, Kabul
"Before NOIA's campaign, my shop was surrounded by trash every day. The streets were dirty, and people thought it was normal to throw garbage anywhere. I used to sweep inside my shop but ignored the mess outside. Business was slow because customers didn’t like the dirty environment. But after NOIA's team came and explained the importance of waste management, everything started to change."
"Now, I make sure to collect all my shop's trash and dispose of it in the bins. Other shopkeepers are doing the same. Our market looks much better — cleaner, more welcoming — and customers have noticed the difference. I feel proud that I am contributing to a better Kabul."
"I am committed to continuing this practice and spreading the message to other business owners in my area. I sincerely thank NOIA and the donors who supported this initiative. Your investment is bringing lasting change to our communities. Please continue supporting this campaign, so that more markets and business areas in Kabul can benefit just as we did."
— Abdul Wali, Grocery Shop Owner, PD10, Kabul
Success Story 3: Farzana, Mother of Three, PD5, Kabul
"As a mother, I always worried about the health and safety of my children, but I didn’t connect that to the litter on our streets and in our parks. Before NOIA’s awareness sessions, it seemed normal to see garbage everywhere, even where children played. But when NOIA explained the dangers — diseases, pollution, and the long-term harm to our community — I realized how urgent this issue is."
"After attending their events, I made a promise: my family will never throw trash on the streets again. We now carry our waste to the bins, and I speak to other mothers in my neighborhood to do the same. We have started small clean-up activities with the women and children in our street, and we are seeing real improvements."
"This campaign has given me not only knowledge but also the motivation to make a difference. I thank NOIA and all the donors for bringing this program to us. Your support is protecting our children and building healthier communities. I strongly hope this campaign will continue and expand so that more families like mine across Kabul and Afghanistan can benefit."
